INSIGHTS: MY FAVOURITE PIECE The special thing about Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg is the people who work here. Manu factum, made by hand, is both a promise and a tradition. The artisans and their attention to detail, their passion for porcelain and their never-ending creativity can be felt in every object. We would like to invite you to get to know the personalities of the manufactory and their favourite pieces in this (and future) newsletters. The Musu vase with its two openings can be tropically lush and delicate meadow flowers. This is what Elisa Görlitz from the turning shop appreciates about the design - and this is also the challenge. "The production requires a lot of skill because you have to insert the small vase into the large one and turn it upside down several times. It is damp and still unstable. It took me several months to master this art." The 22-year-old began her training at the manufactory in 2021 and has been a qualified crockery shaper since last spring. A profession that requires concentration, spatial awareness and enthusiasm for the craft. Elisa has all of this. ‘I've always done handicrafts as a child, I paint and knit in my free time.’ And decorates her own Musu vase, which stands on the windowsill in the kitchen. Sometimes with tropical exotics, sometimes with self-picked flowers that she discovers on her way to work. "Cycling to the castle at 6 o'clock in the morning and then walking through the garden to the manufactory is always magical. There's nothing but peace and quiet and a very special light," enthuses Elisa Görlitz. |
